An Overview of Biosimilars

Educational Objectives:

I. Recognize the difference between small molecule drugs and biologics.

II. Summarize the importance in appreciating biologic variability.

III. Define a biosimilar and how a biosimilar is different than a generic medicine.

IV. Identify clinical development process for a biosimilar.

V. Understand regulatory guidelines including topics such as extrapolation, interchangeability and naming guidelines
